Wanda K. Towner, 88, a long-time resident of the Norwich area, passed away on December 31, 2015.
Wanda was born February 4, 1927, in Hawleyville (Newtown), CT. She was predeceased by her parents, Feliks and Varonika (Krawiecki) Kozlowska, her husband Donald C. Towner and brothers Edward, William (Marion) and Frank (Janis) Krawiecki. She is survived by brothers Albert (Bea) Krawiecki and Val Krawiecki, and sister-in-law Alba Krawiecki.
Wanda was raised in Newtown, CT, and lived in Mahopac, NY, and Peekskill, NY, before settling in Plymouth in late 1950s. She attended a secondary school for secretary skills and worked at the Norwich Shoe Co. for over 30 years. Wanda loved to spend time with her family and could often be found attending Scouting events with her children. She enjoyed baking, sewing, bird watching, gardening, and her pets.
In addition to her brothers, Wanda is survived by her three children, Donna (Ed) Bigler of Orrtanna, PA, Donald (Sherry) Towner of Staunton, VA, and Bruce (Penny) Towner of Livingston, TX. Also surviving are grandchildren Charlene Delaney, Dawn Towner, Robin (Levi) Claussen, Corey Towner, Alison Monroe, James Towner, Michelle (Brian) Staebell, and step-grandchilden Russell and Timothy Toepfer. Surviving great-grandchildren are Samantha and Dasea Delaney and Logan, Lucas, and Alexander Monroe.
A celebration of Wanda's life will take place from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at her home: 125 Impasse Road, Norwich, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wanda's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to a charity of your choice.
