Thomas J. Kennedy Jr., 86, of Norwich, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn on May 12, 1926, Tom was the son of Thomas J. Kennedy Sr. and Margaret (Achen) Kennedy. Tom served with the U. S. Army during World War II where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
Tom is survived by his wife, Anna (Johnson) Kennedy of Norwich; his step-children, Jackie and David Bowman of Salem, OR, Ernest Cook living in Kenya, Jane Cook and Bill Simmons of Shepherdstown, WV, Victoria Hendrickson of Norwich, Annette and Tom Monday of Norwich and Thomas and Sheila Cook of Sharpsburg, MD; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Kennedy; a brother, Arthur and Sharon Kennedy of Tucson, AZ and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his first wife, Beverly Wakefield in 1969; two sons, Thomas J. Kennedy III and Lawrence Kennedy as well as sisters, Mary Krygier and Betty Rauchet.
A Memorial Mass for Tom will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 19, 2013 at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Oxford. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Tom may be made to the American Cancer Society.
