Robert M. “Bob” Magistro, 73, a lifelong Norwich resident passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at his residence.
Born in Norwich on September 01, 1950, Robert was the son of the late Anthony A. Sr. and Ellen (Diefenbacher) Magistro. He graduated from Norwich High School with the Class of 1968 and immediately began a career with Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceuticals on Eaton Avenue as a tablet granulator. For many years, Bob was the head of the union for the company. He retired from the North Norwich plant with Procter and Gamble Pharmaceuticals in 2005. Bob also delivered the Binghamton Press around Norwich for many years.
Bob loved to play golf and was an avid fast pitch softball player. Years later he switched to slow pitch softball in Weiler Park. He was a fan of the New York Jets, Notre Dame, and his number one team was the New York Mets. A bucket list item for Bob was going to watch a Notre Dame game live, something he recently accomplished. He also enjoyed attending the annual Magistro family reunions.
Bob is survived by his siblings, Anthony Jr. (Madelyn) Magistro, of Norwich, Charles (Kay) Magistro, of Ottawa, IL, and Margaret Magistro, of Norwich; nieces and nephews, Heather (Joseph) Manley, Jason (Michelle) Magistro, Brandy (Jeremiah) Brown, Christopher (Heather) Golliver, Patrick (Alicia) Golliver, and Valerie (Donald Rose) Golliver, great-nieces and great-nephews, Emma, Elizabeth, Joseph, Abagail, Kylie, Samantha, Thomas, Morgan, Braden, Avery, Madison, Lucas, and Wyatt; great-great-nephew, Jacob, Uncle Charlie Diefenbacher; and many cousins.
