Michael F. Gessling

Michael F. “Mike” Gessling, 66, of Norwich, died peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2022 with his loving family and friends by his side.

Mike was born in Queens, NY, the son of Frederick and Anna (Schultz) Gessling. He moved to Norwich in 1989 and worked at Nina’s Pizzeria for 26 years as a dishwasher and cleaner. He enjoyed collecting die cast cars, eagle and wolf figures and blankets, spending time with his children, and nature walks. He also enjoyed helping his wife, Linda, deliver the Evening Sun around Norwich.

On June 2, 2002, Mike married Linda (Crandall) Gessling, who survives. He is also survived by his three children; Tyler Gessling, Seth Gessling, and Mitchell Gessling, all of Norwich; and his sister, Joyce Rodriguez. He was predeceased by his parents, and his siblings, Paul Gessling, Patricia Ann Gessling, and Edward Gessling. Mike was also very close with his neighbors, the Hattons, and very hospitable to all who visited his home.

Mike’s family wishes to express appreciation to Nidia Rojas and Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County for allowing Mike to stay at home when his battle with cancer was near the end.

Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. There will be no funeral service.
