Mary Ann Marinelli, 76, of Norwich, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 26, 1947 in Buffalo, NY, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Leahy) Stein. She graduated from Sweethome High School in 1964 before moving to Shortsville, NY with her then husband. Mary Ann later moved to Canandaigua, NY where she worked in various retail stores including Faye’s Drug Store, JC Penney, and lastly Bliss Shurfine Food Mart.
Mary Ann moved to Golden Age Apartments in Norwich to be closer to her family and became active in the community. She volunteered regularly at the Pink Door Thrift Shop and the Chenango Memorial Hospital Gift Shop and was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church in Norwich. Mary Ann enjoyed painting at the Artist Palette and was a huge Buffalo Bills fan. In her leisure time, she enjoyed walking outdoors, knitting, and gardening. She was a fan of pets including dogs and her own birds. Mary Ann enjoyed her time with family and friends. Her ultimate passion was being a mother and grandmother.
Mary Ann is survived by her two sons, Christopher and Erin Marinelli, of Norwich, NY, and Nicholas and Christina Marinelli, of Pembroke, MA; grandchildren, Trent, Addison, Gabriella, and Nathan; sister, Margaret “Peggy” and Charles Hull; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her former husband, Nicholas J. Marinelli, Jr.
A Memorial Mass for Mary Ann will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the Church of St. Paul, where the Rev. Ralph A. Bove, will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Burial will occur at the future date at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, NY.
