Lynn C. Micklas

Lynn C. Micklas, 71, of Pharsalia, passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2024. Born on August 13, 1953, in Parkchester, Bronx, New York, Lynn was the cherished daughter of the late Raymond and Frances (Kasdorf) Ostheimer. She spent her childhood on Long Island, where she graduated from Herricks High School in 1971.

Lynn continued her education at SUNY Cobleskill, earning an associate’s degree in 1973. It was there that she met James "Jim" Micklas, who would become the love of her life. Lynn pursued further studies and earned her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport in 1974.

Lynn & Jim married in 1978, embarking on a life filled with love and adventure. The couple began their married life in East Pharsalia, New York, where they raised their two children and tended to their small farm. They both found employment at the former Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceutical, later known as Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals. In 1997, they relocated to Mason, Ohio, for work. Her husband Jim passed away in 2005, but Lynn continued her career with Procter & Gamble until her retirement in 2008. After retiring, she remained active in the Mason community, dedicating her time to volunteer work at the Hope in Action Giving Garden and the Blue Ash Cancer Support Group. She also enjoyed spending time with several different circles of friends. Lynn eventually returned to Pharsalia in 2021, where she found comfort in being closer to her roots.

Lynn had a deep sense of service and compassion, which was reflected in her earlier roles as a volunteer EMS member with the Pharsalia Fire Department. She was also a dedicated member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Norwich.

An accomplished cellist, Lynn found joy in music, she was an avid patron of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. She had a deep appreciation for nature, spending time gardening, birdwatching, and hiking. Her creative talents extended to quilting, weaving, and jewelry-making, and she enjoyed creating handmade gifts for her loved ones.

Lynn's memory will be cherished by her children, Jeremiah (Melissa) Micklas of Pharsalia, and Melanie (Zak) Scheer of Cincinnati, Ohio; her beloved grandchildren, Alma Micklas, Henry Micklas, and Jozie Scheer; her sister, Gail (Gerald) Friedland; and her twin sister, Karen (Tom) Bihler. She is reunited with her husband James, who predeceased her in 2005.

A memorial service to celebrate Lynn's life will be held on November 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, 94 North Broad Street, Norwich, NY 13815, officiated by the Rev.
