Letha A. Cole, 72, a Norwich native, died on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Chase Memorial Nursing Home after a courageous four-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on October 31, 1947, in Norwich. Letha was the daughter of Gordon and Frances (Canto) Cole. She was predeceased by a sister, Linda L. Lombardi.
Letha attended Norwich High School, graduating in 1965. After graduation, Letha worked for a few years at C&U Telephone Company as an Operator. Letha also worked for a few years for the Norwich Pharmacal Company. After leaving this employment, she worked until her retirement in 2003 at Frontier Communications in Sherburne, NY. Letha is survived by her brother, Kenneth J. Cole and his wife, Ana G. Cole, of Norwich. She is also survived by a niece, Victoria L. Sacco and her husband, Joe Sacco, of Binghamton, NY. Also, Letha is survived by a nephew, Salvadore G. Cole, of Norwich; brother-in-law, Joseph Lombardi; and several cousins.
Letha was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church. She had a passion for collecting teapots, and she was always happy decorating her house on every holiday throughout the year.
Kenneth and Ana would like to thank all the staff at Chase Memorial Nursing Home for all the great care given to Letha during the past two years.
A private visitation was held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, April 25, 2020. A private committal service will take place on Tuesday, April 28, at St. Paul’s Cemetery, where Rev. Ralph A. Bove, pastor, St. Bartholomew’s Church, will offer committal prayers. A memorial Mass will be celebrated for Letha at a later date. Contributions in Letha’s memory may be made to the St. Bartholomew’s Church Capital Campaign Fund, 30 Pleasant St., Norwich, NY 13815.
