Kathleen S. “Kathy” Corey, 67, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Chenango Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born on January 26, 1955, in Norwich, Kathy was the daughter of Raymond and Marjorie (Blood) Deady. She was a graduate of Norwich High School and for some years thereafter worked at Victory Markets, for Chenango County, and then for the John C. Stott Insurance Agency. Then, Kathy began caring for children out of her home, which she did for decades. She was well known for the kindness and compassion she exhibited to all those for whom she cared. She was so well regarded that some of the children she cared for later in life sent their own children to be cared for by Kathy. She was also known for wanting to make holidays special for her family and friends by making holiday crafts for those she loved. Kathy also very much enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard.
On April 24, 1976, in Norwich, Kathy married her high school sweetheart, Richard Corey, who survives. They would enjoy 46 years together before her passing. In addition to her husband, Kathy is survived by her daughter, Jessica Warner, and her husband, Matthew, of Fulton; son, Jason Corey, of Oxford; grandchildren, Lyndsey, Allie, and Blake Warner, Matthew (Jillian) Corey, Connor Whipple, and Hunter Corey; and siblings, Michele Deady and Sandy (Jim) Moore, all of Norwich. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation to the staff of Chenango Memorial Hospital for its compassionate care and kindnesses extended to Kathy and her family.
A graveside service for Kathy will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Contributions in Kathy’s memory may be made to the Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, 179 N. Broad St., Norwich, NY 13815.
