Joseph R. “Joe” Clark, of Norwich, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, after a fall at his residence. He was 83 years old.
Born on May 22, 1938, in Lewistown, PA, Joe was the son of Edward and Gladys (Hartman) Clark. He was a 1956 graduate of Chief Logan High School and then went to college at Lock Haven State College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education. He also completed some graduate work in the field of special education at Syracuse University. Joe began with the Norwich City Schools in the special education department, and retired as a special educator at the DCMO BOCES, in Norwich, in 1993.
On February 27, 1960, in Lewistown, Joe married his wife of 61 years, Judy B. Rheam, who survives.
For many summers while teaching, Joe and his kids could be found painting houses and buildings all across this city. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed reading, woodworking, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a true outdoorsman and was both an avid hunter and fisherman. Joe also coached Norwich High School football and wrestling.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by children whom he adored, Jeanna (Robert) Deimler, of Georgia, Cathleen (Steve) Carpenter, of Colombia, Joseph Clark, of Baldwinsville, NY, Mary Ellen (David) Ballard, of Florida, and Steven (Jennifer) Clark, of Georgia; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nina Tuset and Bonnie Clark. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his brother, Donol Clark.
Services for Joe will be held in the spring 2022. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
