Helen J. Wasus, 94, of Lavallette, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, NY.
She was born in Passaic, moved to Pomona, NY, in 1961, then settled in Lavallette in 1969.
Helen was a hairdresser for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Seaside Chapter of Deborah Heart & Lung Center for over 40 years and a member of the Dover-Brick First Aid Auxiliary and Ocean Beach Seniors.
She is predeceased by her husband, Michael, and her daughter, Barbara Salpietro. Helen is survived by her daughter, Michelle Davern, and her husband, Stephen, of Oxford, NY; grandchildren Robert Salpietro, and his wife, Barbara, of Cary, NC; Nancy Crate, of Beverly Farms, MA; and Richard Salpietro, of Spring Hill, FL; great-grandchildren Danielle, Christina, Robert and Michael Salpietro; and Will, Emma, Audrey and Ellie Crate.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the St. Pio of Pietrelcina Church, Lavallette. Friends are invited to call at the church on Saturday from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River, NJ.
