George L. Blood, 70, ofNorwich, died on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
Born in Norwich on June 7, 1942, George was the son of the late Robert L. Blood, Sr. and Hazel S. (Place) Blood. He spent all of his life in Norwich and graduated from Norwich High School. Following his schooling, he began a fifty-five year career at Tansey’s Auto Supply on Birdsall Street when he was sixteen years old. He eventually purchased the business.
He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church where he once served as treasurer. George was a lifelong active Boy Scout, and a scout leader for over forty-five years. He was also a long time treasurer of the Plymouth Reservoir Association.
George was a devoted husband and father. On December 15, 1986, in Oxford, he married Clarice M. “Ceci” (Angle) Blood, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Williams and her husband, Paul, of Norwich, his step-daughter, Sharon Myers, of Oneida; his grandchildren, Kati Williams and Renee Havener; his great granddaughter, Catherine Havener; his sisters, Helen and Michael Murray, Susan and Paul Zagami and Joan Axtell. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Robert Blood, Jr.
A memorial service for George will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with the Very Reverend Charles G. Taylor, Rector, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
