Elaine H. Clum, of South New Berlin, passed away at the age of 82 on Thursday, March 27, 2025 in Cooperstown surrounded by her loving family and her beloved husband of 62 years.

Born on November 9, 1942, in Gilbertsville, NY, delivered by Shirley Smith in her parents’ home. Elaine was the daughter of Arthur and Linnetta (Camp) Lawson. She attended school in Gilbertsville and continued her education at the IBM school in Binghamton. Elaine retired as a secretary with Procter and Gamble in Norwich.

Elaine met and married her husband, George, in Gilbertsville. Together they raised three children and would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on May 29th.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Lawson; and sisters, Cheryl Vymislicky and Jane Lawson.

She is survived by her husband, George, of South New Berlin; son, Scott (Mishelle) Clum, of Oregon; son, Steven Clum, of Norwich; daughter, Robin Clum, of New Berlin; adopted daughter, Traci Berardelli, of New Berlin; grandchildren, Greyson (Leah) Clum of Washington, Grant Clum, of Oregon, and Autumn Clum, of Norwich; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Chenango Dialysis Center, the Special Care Unit at Bassett Hospital for their care, and the South New Berlin Emergency Squad for their support and assistance.

Graveside services at the Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville will be held at a future date to be announced.

Memorial contributions may be made to the South New Berlin Fire Department, 3519 NY-8, South New Berlin, NY 13843, the Chenango SPCA, 6160 County Rd 32, Norwich, NY 13815, or plant some flowers in her name as she loved to watch them come up in the spring and summer.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted with the Wilson Funeral Home.
