Dorothy M. “Dottie” Mattice, 72, of Norwich, passed away at her residence on Saturday, September 11, 2021, with her loving daughters by her side.

Born on June 18, 1949, in Bainbridge, Dottie was the daughter of Dr. Asa F. and Francis E. (Schaffer) Legg. She was a graduate of Afton High School. She worked for many years at NBT Bank, in Norwich, primarily as a credit collections specialist. Dottie also worked briefly for CWS. Later in life, she operated her own housekeeping business for many years. What Dottie enjoyed most in life, though, was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

On December 31, 1978, in Norwich, Dottie married, Richard E. Mattice, whom she absolutely adored. Richard died on July 15, 2015.

Dottie is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Vernon Jr.) Hoag, of Norwich, Heather Dawson, of Kentucky, and Crystal (Dan) Slater, of Norwich; grandchildren, Brock, Zachary (Madison), and Skyler Hoag, Dustin White, and Troy and Kameron Lewis, Cassie Slater and Hailey Slater; and great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Ava Hoag, Aiden and Alice White, and Emerald Lewis. She was predeceased by her brother, Don Legg.

Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Due to the recent increase in COVID cases in the area, callers are asked to enter through the side doors of the funeral home and observe social distancing practices. The wearing of facial coverings is also recommended.

A private entombment at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church columbarium will take place at a later date.

Contributions in Dottie’s memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 33-39 Court Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
