Craig A. Arts, 59, a native of Norwich, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at his residence with family by his side.
Born on October 2, 1960, Craig was the son of Renie A.M. and Zeila M. (Dawson) Arts. He was one of their four children. Craig graduated from Norwich High School with the class of 1978, then studied tool and die making for a year at Broome Community College. Craig began working in truck maintenance for Great American markets. Soon thereafter, Craig bought his first truck and began hauling for local companies. Eventually, Craig worked for the RFX trucking company for 20 years before his illness prevented him from doing so. Through this work, he travelled extensively throughout all parts of the United States. Due to his travels, Craig was remarkable in his ability retain directions and locations of various destinations, and would share these details with his family and friends. When not driving his truck, Craig enjoyed tinkering with his three automobiles, including his 1954 Dodge pickup. His cars were very sentimental to him.
On October 5, 2016, in the Outer Banks, North Carolina, Craig married Netta (Irizarry) Arts, who survives. In addition to his wife, Craig is survived by his sons, Stephen and Cody Brady, each of Norwich; siblings, Sheila (Carl) Brewer, Linda (John) McNeil, each of Hendersonville, NC, and James (Joanne) Arts, of Chenango Bridge; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Craig was predeceased his parents.
