Carole Silva

May 25, 1944 — February 8, 2014

Ms. Carole Anne (Hunt) Silva, 69, born May 25, 1944, passed away unexpectedly at her residence in Norwich, NY, on Saturday February 8, 2014. She was born in Norwich and attended and graduated from Norwich High School in 1962. Carole was a long-time resident of Norwich before relocating to New Hampshire where she raised her children. She moved back to her lifelong home of Norwich in 2003.

Carole was predeceased by her parents Arthur & Frances (Caezza) Hunt and her step-father, David Bauer. She is survived by four daughters; Diana Vallerand, Angela Silva, Kathleen Reynolds, and Susan Silva; her twin sister, Carla (Hunt) Schenker; six grandchildren; Jessica, Samantha, Nicholas, Joseph, Tabitha and Christopher; seven great-grandchildren; Alyxzander, Mykayla, Zabreya, Kayden, Lana, Dawson and Elysia, and an aunt, Grace Damiani. Two very special friends, Sandy Smith and Beverly Remington, also survive.

Carole was an active member of St. Bartholomew Church for many years. She was also a longtime member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary. In retirement, Carole enjoyed being a member of the Ave-Maria Guild and helped serve up many spaghetti dinners, funeral lunches and baked thousands of holiday cookies for the church, friends and family. She enjoyed volunteering at the bingo hall, as well as being an avid bingo player. It wasn’t too long before she moved onto the excitement of larger jackpots at Turning Stone Casino. Carole also enjoyed baking, playing cards for nickels, building her family tree for genealogy and trying to figure out 21st century technology.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 15, 2014, at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Following the Mass, there will be a gathering of friends and family at the St. Bartholomew Parish Center. Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
