Carol A. Lewis

Carol A. Lewis, 81, formerly of Norwich, died on June 15, 2022 at the Delhi Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. She was born on January 13, 1941 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Dr. Elbert and Virginia (Rysdon) Lewis.

Carol, a devout Catholic, taught religious education in several Chicago-area Catholic schools. She also worked as a medical transcriptionist for various medical offices and hospitals. She loved all Chicago sports teams, especially the Cubs and White Sox, traveling, going to Mass and helping at church, visiting yard sales, and just talking to family and friends.

She is survived by her brother, Ken Lewis and his wife Elly; niece, Heidi Bennett; nephews, Ed (Gina) Lewis and Stephen (Lori) Lewis; three great-nieces and their families; close cousins, Richard Smith and Sarah Corey; Tangie Riles, whom Carol considered a daughter; and many other cousins and friends.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Delhi Rehabilitation Hospital and its staff, especially those in the Aspen wing, for their care of Carol. Also, special thanks to Wilson Funeral Home for their kind and compassionate attention and services.

A memorial service for Carol will held on June 28, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel in St. Paul’s Cemetery, with Rev. Ralph A. Bove, pastor, officiating. Burial will immediately follow. There will be no calling hours.
