Carla M. Larsen

Carla M. Larsen, 61, of Norwich, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 30, 1962 Carla was the youngest child of Carl and Martha (DePew) Prewitt. She grew up enjoying and appreciating the Norwich area alongside her 5 brothers and sisters. She graduated from Oxford Academy in 1980.

Carla is remembered as a mother, mentor, and caring friend to many. First as a talented gymnast and coach. Then as a patient and nurturing teaching assistant to students. Her first love, her puppy Spot, whom she spent hours chasing in circles, prepared her well for motherhood as she went on to have 5 children of her own and 4 grandchildren. Carla lived to love and serve her family. Always with a kind word of encouragement and fun spirit,

Carla devoted her time to baking memorable birthday cakes, inventing creative games and songs, cultivating magical parties, and making the most mundane of Tuesdays into a special memory. Her home will be remembered as a loving space for family game nights, moving watching (she inevitably fell asleep immediately), and festive parties. Her creativity, love, and enthusiasm for fun will be missed by all.

A Celebration for the Life of Carla will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich from 3 - 5 PM, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to Sarah’s Guest House, sarahsguesthouse.org.
