Carl R. Alonge, 90, formerly of New Berlin, NY, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
Born on September 10, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the only son of the late Joseph and Dorothy Yatsko Alonge. He spent his childhood in Brooklyn before attending St. Francis College. Carl honorably served from 1952-1954 in the United States Navy. Following his service, he began a career in Brooklyn with the United States Postal Service, a job which he retired from after over thirty years. In 1989, Carl and his wife, Elaine, relocated to New Berlin, NY. He was a huge sports fan and enjoyed watching old western movies.
On April 6, 1952, in Brooklyn, NY, Carl married the love of his life, Elaine Tinneberg, who died on February 15, 2017.
Carl is survived by his daughter, Jo-Ann (Joseph) Marciano, of Norwich, NY; son, Kenneth Alonge, of Norwich, NY; grandchildren, Joseph (Gabrielle) Marciano Jr. of Miami, FL, Christina (Christian) Wagner of Troy, NY, Joseph (Christina) LoCurto of Patchogue, NY, Ann Marie LoCurto of Norwich, NY, Robert LoCurto of Queens, NY, and Lisa Russo of Queens, NY; and great-grandchildren, Lucas, Stella, and Leona. He was predeceased by his daughters, Debra Russo and Donna LoCurto.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Carl will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Church of St. Bartholomew, where the Rev. Ralph A. Bove, will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023. There will be no calling hours. Contributions in Carl’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association 125 Business Park Dr #106, Utica, NY 13502. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilson Funeral Home.
