Barbara A. Edwards

Barbara A. Edwards, 91, of Johnson City, NY, passed away in the company of loved ones on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. She was born on February 6, 1932, in Norwich, the daughter of Ralph “Bob” and Leone (Boyden) Cumber of Norwich, NY. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her as were her kind words and generous deeds that touched many lives. Barbara lived her Catholic faith and enjoyed teaching Faith Formation and volunteering at the Nearly New Shop. She impacted many students’ lives as a high school Language teacher, ending her career at Afton Schools teaching Spanish and advising many clubs. Barbara enjoyed working with exchange students and her world travels to Central America and the Middle East.

Barbara leaves behind her husband David; children, Richard (Teresa) Edwards, Anne (James) D’Agostino, Michael (Barbara) Edwards, Sarah Edwards, James (Kemi) Edwards; eight grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. We will all miss her chocolate chip cookies and chili con queso. In her memory, raise a glass full of ice with a little coke!

Friends are welcome to a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Norwich on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. where the Reverend Ralph A. Bove, pastor, will officiate. Burial will immediately occur in St. Paul’s Cemetery. An additional Mass will be held at St. James Church in Johnson City, NY, on a date to be determined.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the Wilson Funeral Home.
