Aurora F. Raccuia, 84, of Norwich, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, July 06, 2014 at her home.
Born in Sicily, Italy on February 2, 1930, Aurora was the daughter of Francesco and Anna (Mondello) Caruso. On October 31, 1951, in Sicily, she married Pietro Raccuia and then moved to the United States and settled in Norwich. Pietro died on April 3, 1973. Aurora was an astute business woman, who after her husband’s death, followed through with his real estate and property management business. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking and loved her flower gardens. Aurora will be remembered for her love of her husband, her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the love of her life.
Aurora is survived by her children and their spouses, Ninett and Anthony Singe, of Saratoga Springs, Kathleen and Frank Centro, of Oneida, Anna and Daniel Bruno, of Manhattan, Peter Raccuia of Norwich and Joseph and Linda Raccuia, of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Frank Jr., Alicia, Andre, Timothy, Thomas and Terri; great grandchildren, Louis, Sienna, Michelangelo, Christina, Brooke, Frank, Carmen, Alexandria, Aiden, Austin, Emily, Rachel, Heidi, Meredith, Joseph, Jacob, Zachary, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Emma and Rebecca. She is also survived by two nieces, Anita, of Milan, Italy and Mariolina, of Sicily.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Aurora will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Rev. Lester Smith, pastor of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be private at the convenience of the family.
Contributions in memory of Aurora, the loving matriarch of her family who will be greatly missed, may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815. The family extends its heartfelt appreciation for Hospice’s extraordinary comfort, care and kindness during this difficult time.
