Alice Hudson Herman, 90, of Norwich, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Residential Health Care Facility of Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Buffalo, NY, Alice was the daughter of Harry Francis and Alice (Lockwood) Hudson. She was a life-long, dedicated artist delving into the world of the imagination. Her work appeared at Gallery North in Long Island, Gallery 53 in Cooperstown, and the Chenango County Council of the Arts Gallery in Norwich. She also has work in the permanent collections of the Museum of the City of New York, NY, and the Mingei International Museum in San Diego, as well as many pieces in private collections. The Mingei published a book describing the Museum’s exhibit of Alice’s work: “A Palace for Wednesday.”
Alice is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Bronson and her son-in-law, Todd Bachman, of North Pitcher.
To honor Alice’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service or calling hours.
In lieu of flowers and a service of remembrance, it was Alice’s wish that contributions in her memory be made to the Chenango County SPCA, 6160 County Road 32, Norwich, NY 13815, or the Chenango County Council of the Arts, 27 W. Main St., Norwich, NY 13815.
