Steven Michael Hendrickson passed away on May 23, 2023. Steve was born on March 21, 1976, in Hamilton, NY. Steve grew up in Earlville, NY where he delivered The Evening Sun newspaper for many years in the village before being employed by Skip’s Market in Sherburne through high school. Steve graduated from Sherburne-Earlville Central School in 1995 and attended SUNY Fredonia afterwards for social work. Steve worked with various nonprofit agencies in the Buffalo and Albany areas focusing on HIV testing, prevention, and counseling for nearly 20 years. For the past seven years he was employed by Maximus Inc. as a researcher and trainer.
Steve loved the outdoors and to be active including camping and hiking during all seasons in the Adirondack Mountains. He enjoyed running, biking and rollerblading on the streets of any city he lived in. He loved to travel overseas visiting Iceland and many European countries. Steve spent time hiking in the Alps, a dream come true. He hoped to next visit Egypt, being intrigued for many years by the ancient civilization. He loved Space Exploration, Science Fiction, and everything Star Trek.
Steve is survived by his parents, Jeffrey Hendrickson of Earlville and Betty (Lawrence) Hendrickson of Norwich; sister, Jennifer Hendrickson (Dan Funk) of Norwich; and niece, Meghan Funk of Norwich. Steve could make a friend anywhere he went. Those he leaves behind, at home and around the world are numerous. If you met Steve, you would never forget him. May you now find solace among the stars.
A celebration of his life will be held at a future time.
