John “Butch” Quattrocchi, Jr., 70, of Norwich, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2014 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born December 20, 1943, in Norwich, John was the son of John Quattrocchi, Sr. and Beatrice (Rivenburgh) Quattrocchi. He graduated from Norwich High School (1962) where he played football, basketball and baseball. Butch spent his career of 35 years with the former Victory/Great American grocery stores retiring in 1996.
John was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church and of the Sons of the American Legion. Always a sports fan, Butch played softball and baseball with the Norwich Town team along with golf and bowling. Butch was also a long-time member of the YMCA where he swam competitively and also loved skiing, having traveled to Germany at one time to ski.
Butch is survived by his children, John C. Quattrocchi (Gretchen), Amy Prime (Steve), Jamie Quattrocchi (Tim) and Anthony Quattrocchi, all of Norwich; nine grandchildren, Josephine, Jillian, Abigail, Courteney, Lauren, Cameron, Keegan, Jake and Julia; a brother, Paul Quattrocchi (Susan), of Oregon, and two sisters, Frances Quattrocchi, of Norwich, and Marylou Brown (Frank), of North Carolina; aunts, Nancy Hilsinger, of Liverpool, Molly Gonzales, of Norwich and Claire Quattrocchi, of Norwich. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Butch will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at St. Bartholomew’s Church with Rev. Ralph Bove, pastor, officiating. Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Burial will take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery in the spring.
