			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Kenneth J. Andersen, 73, of South New Berlin, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at his home.</p>
<p>Born in Brooklyn, NY on December 24, 1936, Ken was the son of C. Joseph and Evelyn (Olsen) Andersen.  He was a graduate of New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn and received his bachelor’s degree from Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia.  Ken earned both his master’s degree and doctorate from Syracuse University.  He began his career as a research scientist working for the Batelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio where he was named Outstanding Scientist of the Year.  Ken also worked at Johnson and Johnson in New Jersey before moving to the Norwich area during the early 1970’s to work at Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceuticals.  In 1981, he established Andersen Laboratories in Norwich and later became the laboratory director for his wife’s business, Chenango Valley Environmental Laboratories.</p>
<p>Ken was twice a past president of the Norwich Rotary Club where he was also a Paul Harris Fellow, past secretary and Assistant District Governor.  He was a long time member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for all of his years there.  During his leisure time, Ken loved to read.</p>
<p>On June 9, 1962, in Kinnelon, New Jersey, Ken married Judith G. Lamb, who survives.  He is also survived by his two sons and their wives, David J. and Delfi Andersen of Norwich and Mark and Julie Andersen of Shreveport, LA; three grandchildren, Christina Andersen of Oxford, and Isabella and Nate Andersen of Shreveport and two great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Ralph Andersen.</p>
<p>Funeral services for Ken will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Hale, pastor, officiating.  Friends are invited to call at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service.  Burial will take place at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in memory of Ken be made to The Rotary Foundation, One Rotary Center, 1560 Sherman Ave., Evanston, IL  60201.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Virginia Atkinson, of Howard Street, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.</p>
<p>Virginia was born in Norwich, the daughter of William H. and Estella G. (Mattice) Atkinson. After her schooling in Norwich, Virginia worked as a clerk at the former J.C. Penney and Bates-Troy Laundry before working for Victory Markets, retiring due to her health.</p>
<p>During her leisure time, she enjoyed her garden, especially her flowers.</p>
<p>Virginia is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Scott of Norwich and Caroline Brewster of Massachusetts and four nieces and nephews, Patricia Scott of Norwich, Beverly Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, Donald Auwater of Prescott, AZ and Shawn Brewster of Danby, VT. She was predeceased by a brother, Carlton Atkinson and three sisters, Freida Nodecker, Evelyn Auwater and ArraWanna Stone.</p>
<p>Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Wilson Funeral Home. Rev. Brian Conover, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 – 5:30 pm. Burial will take place in the spring in Mt. Hope Cemetery.</p>

<p>Born November 20, 1952 in Jersey City, NJ, Yvonne was the daughter of Dominic and Ethel (Parente) Campaignio.  She was a dress designer and dress maker in New Jersey before moving to Smyrna in 1998.
<p>During her leisure time, Yvonne enjoyed fishing and hunting.
<p>On November 15, 1975, in St. Bridges Church in North Bergen, NJ, Yvonne married Dennis T. Murphy who died in 2001.  She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth in New Jersey, three brothers, Anthony Campaignio, of Sherburne, Frank Campaignio and Albert Campaignio, both of New Jersey and her good friend, Mary Studt, of Earlville.
<p>A Mass of Christian Burial for Yvonne will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at St. Mary&#8217;s Church in Hamilton.  Rev. Lester Smith, pastor of St. Malachy&#8217;s Church in Sherburne, will officiate.  Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home in Norwich on Wednesday from 4 &#8211; 6 pm.  Burial will take place in the spring in St. Malachy&#8217;s Cemetery.

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Stephen J. Portelli, 49 of  Rensselaer , beloved husband of Theresa L. Bendura Portelli, entered into eternal life suddenly  Sunday, October 4, 2009 at  Albany  Memorial  Hospital.
<p>Born in  Norwich , NY , he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Mary (Cincotta) Portelli. He married his beloved Theresa L. Bendura  June 22, 1985 in Sherburne ,  NY.
<p>He received his Associate&#8217;s Degree from SUNY Morrisville..
<p>Steve was the Station Manager at Forward Air Inc. on  Sicker Road in Latham for the last 10 years..
<p>He was a communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Latham where he was active on the Life Teen Core Team and sang in the Life Teen band. Steve taught religious education at St. Ambrose and participated in mission trips to  Mississippi and  Mexico with the church. He was active in the St. Isaac Jogues Youth Conference at Auriesville Shrine. Steve coached girls&#8217; softball in the East Greenbush Softball League. He also coached baseball at the East Greenbush-Castleton Little League for many years. He excelled in softball and wore #14 in honor of his favorite Yankee, Lou Piniella. He was a devoted supporter of the New York Yankees and an expert in Yankee trivia. He was a fan of the &#8220;Honeymooners&#8221; television show. He was quick with a joke and full of wit. Steve was a devout Catholic whose faith sustained him through many challenging times in his life. Steve was a true family man who loved his wife, children, and family with all his heart..
<p>Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his loving children  Jena M. (Christopher J.) Chevalier, Dominic R. Portelli, Annalyse C. Portelli, and Daniel J. Portelli all of  East Greenbush . He is also survived by his dear siblings Mary Kay (Jack) Frederick of Latham, Joanne (Thomas) LeFaivre of Camden,NY, Joseph F. (Anita) Portelli of Binghamton, and Terri (John) Bernarde of Latham, his mother and father-in-law, Robert And Shirley Bendura of Sherburne as well as the siblings and their families of his wife Theresa. He is also survived by his loving extended family.&lt;p&gt;A Mass of Christian Burial and Resurrection was celebrated on  Saturday October 10, 2009 in St. Ambrose Church, in Latham with Rev. Francis DuBois Pastor and Rev. Tony Childs officiating..
<p>In Lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Daniel J. or Annalyse C. Portelli Memorial Fund. Donations can be sent to any SEFCU location and made payable to either child.  Interment was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in  Rensselaer .</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Robert J. Wehrli, 76, of South Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
<p>Born in Glen Cove, Long Island on February 21, 1933, Bob was the son of Albert J. and Marie (Zuppiger) Wehrli.  He graduated from Norwich High School and followed his life&#8217;s passion, operating the family farm in So. Plymouth.  At one time he was the caretaker of &#8220;Elsie the Cow&#8221; of television fame.  During the late 1980&#8217;s and early 1990&#8217;s, Bob was a heavy equipment operator for New York State.</p>
<p>Another of Bob&#8217;s passions was soil conservation and tree planting.  During the 1960&#8217;s he received the Soil Conservationist of the Year award.  Also at that time he was named Outstanding Young Farmer.</p>
<p>Bob was a member of St. Bartholomew&#8217;s Church and during his leisure time he enjoyed bowling and playing bridge.</p>
<p>On July 27, 1969, in Spokane, Washington, Bob married Mary J. (Meeks) Wehrli, who survives.  He is also survived by a son, Kevin Wehrli and his wife, Erin; a granddaughter, Makenna Wehrli and a brother, Albert E. Wehrli and his wife, Kathy, of Norwich.  He was predeceased by a brother, Bruce A. Wehrli.</p>
<p>A Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at St. Bartholomew&#8217;s Church.  A luncheon will follow in the Parish Center.  Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 4 &#8211; 6:30 pm and on Wednesday at St. Bartholomew&#8217;s from 10:15 until the time of the service.  Burial will take place in the spring in St. Paul&#8217;s Cemetery.</p>
<p>Contributions in memory of Bob may be made to the National Wildlife Federation, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, Reston, VA 20190-5362.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://wilsonfh.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/kate.jpeg" title="Kate Rotundo"><img src="http://wilsonfh.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/kate.thumbnail.jpeg" alt="Kate Rotundo" /></a>Catherine M. &#8220;Kate&#8221; Rotundo, 90, of Sharon Drive, passed away courageously on Monday, January 18, 2010 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.Born in Norwich on May 14, 1919, Catherine was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Favaloro) Paino.  She graduated from Norwich High School with the Class of 1937 and then worked at Scintilla during World War II.  Kate also worked at NYSEG and for several years at DiStefano&#8217;s Grocery on East Main Street before raising her family of five including two sets of twins.  She then worked at the home office of Victory Markets in their payroll division until her retirement.</p>
<p>Catherine was a lifelong member of St. Bartholomew&#8217;s Church and a longtime member of the Ave Maria Guild.  She helped the church in many of its functions including the annual Spaghetti Supper and holiday bake sales.  For over twenty years she was the person who organized the offertory presenters at weekend masses.  Kate was also a member of the Ladies of Charity and volunteered for many other organizations.</p>
<p>Kate&#8217;s sweet spirit made her loved by everyone who knew her.  During her leisure time she enjoyed golf and bowling as well as ceramics and knitting.  Her green thumb filler her house with plants.  From croquet to pinochle, Kate was also an enthusiastic game player.</p>
<p>Kate&#8217;s greatest joy was her family.  On May 11, 1946, in St. Bartholomew&#8217;s Church, she married James A. Rotundo, who survives.  She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Mary Jane and Tom Mazzeo, of Medford, Long Island, Jeannie and Marty Flanagan, of Scotia, Kathy and Kurt Pelton, of Sloansville, NY and Jimmy and Sandy Rotunno, of Dewitt; five grandchildren, Nathaniel Pelton and his wife, Becky, Rebecca Pelton, Kristin Brown and her husband, Adam, Lauren Mazzeo and Joey Rotunno and two great grandsons, Harrison and Lucas Brown.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Rotundo and a brother, Frank Paino.</p>
<p>A Mass of Christian Burial for Kate will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 22, 2010 at St. Bartholomew&#8217;s Church.  Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 &#8211; 7 pm.  Members of the Ave Maria Guild will recite the Rosary at 3:30 pm.  Burial will take place in the spring in St. Paul&#8217;s Cemetery.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew&#8217;s Church.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Evelyn Jacquline ‘Jackie&#8217; Beckwith, of 120 Wheeler Avenue, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Barrow Regional Medical Center in Winder, GA.</p>
<p>Born January 8, 1937 in the Town of Norwich, Jackie was the daughter of Ben and Marjorie (Brown) Guinn.  She graduated from Norwich High School in 1954.  After graduation, she was employed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Syracuse as a bookkeeper.  She also worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Tom Flanagan and Victory Markets/Great American in Norwich.</p>
<p>On August 27, 1955, in Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Norwich, Jackie married Gordon N. Beckwith who passed away on October 26, 2009.  She is survived by her children, Julie A. Beckwith of Norwich, Gordon David Beckwith of Norwich and his fiancée, Kathy O&#8217;Connor, Jacquline ‘Jackie&#8217; and David Cooley of Brandon, FL, Joan and Howard Nesbitt of Winder, GA, John Beckwith of Norwich and June and Steve Beneke of Auburn, GA; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Carissa Cooley, Eric and Jennifer Nesbitt and Lindsay and Logan Beckwith; a brother, Roland ‘Butch&#8217; and Mary Guinn, of Norwich; her brothers-in-law, Art and Mary Shaffer of Jamesville and Tom Frazier of St. Petersburg, FL.  Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.  She was predeceased by her parents and sisters, Beverly Gridley and Betty Shaffer.</p>
<p>Graveside services for Evelyn and her husband, Gordon, will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 11:30 am in Mt. Hope Cemetery.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Norwich Volunteer Fireman&#8217;s Association.</p>

She moved with her family to the United States at the age of one and graduated from Norwich High School with the Class of 1941. Following her schooling, Connie began working at the Guernsey Memorial Library retiring in 1988 after forty-seven years.</p>
<p>Connie was a member of St. Bartholomew&#8217;s Church where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Ave Maria Guild of the church and of the Ladies of Charity. Connie enjoyed bowling and participated in several local women&#8217;s leagues.</p>
<p>She is survived by two sisters, Josephine Tesoriere of Norwich and Mary Heath and her husband, John, also of Norwich and a sister-in-law, Mary Tesoriere, of Frankfort. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Connie was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Anthony Tesoriere.</p>
<p>A Mass of Christian Burial for Connie will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 11, 2010 at St. Bartholomew&#8217;s Church. Friends are invited to call at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Members of the Ave Maria Guild will recite the rosary at 9:30. Burial will take place in the spring in St. Paul&#8217;s Cemetery.&lt;&gt;In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Connie may be made to either the Msgr. Festa Scholarship Fund or the Father Libera Scholarship for priests, East Main Street, Norwich, NY 13815.</p>

<p>Timothy L. Evans, 46, of Lyon Brook Road , passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City.</p>
<p>Born in Binghamton , NY on April 6, 1963 , Tim was the son of Donald and Margaret (Chaffee) Evans. He graduated from Greene High School with the Class of 1981 and began a career that took him from IBM in Endicott, Christman Motors in Norwich , several offices of Agway Energy Products which later became Suburban Propane and Sure Temp in Binghamton . For the past several years he has been a sales representative with Blueox in Oxford .</p>
<p>Tim was a member of the Binghamton Adirondack Club, owners of a camp in the Adirondacks where he and his family enjoyed many summers. He was also a member of the Chenango Sno-Riders Club and the Bluestone Golf Course. He enjoyed bowling where he had won several awards as well as hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and playing golf. His first love, however, was his family, his eyes lighting up every time he saw his two sons and loving every minute they spent together. Tim will be missed greatly by all of his coworkers at Blueox who became his extended family.</p>
<p>On July 27, 1985 , in Guilford , Tim married his soul mate Tracey Stoddard Evans who survives. He is also survived by his two sons, Ryan and Andrew Evans, of Norwich; his mother, Margaret Evans of Greene, NY and his father, Donald Evans of Apalachin, NY; three sisters, Bonnie Evans, Tammy Smith and her husband Robert, and Kellie Evans, all of Greene; his mother and father-in-law, Barbara and Bill Root, of Norwich; brothers and sisters-in-law, Timothy and Sandi Stoddard of Oxford, Thomas and Lynda Stoddard and Mark Root, of Norwich, Terri Stoddard of Clifton, VA, Tamara and Jim Yacano and Lisa Root, of Norwich and his cousin Francis and Helen Osborne of Greene, NY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.</p>
<p>Funeral services for Tim will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Wilson Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, January 8 from 4 &#8211; 7 pm . Burial will take place at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery .</p>

McCumber, 87, of West Main Street, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
<p>Born January 7, 1922 in Norwich, Virginia was the daughter of Lee and Gladys (Reynolds) Stapleton.  A Norwich resident for most of her life, she graduated from Norwich High School with the Class of 1941.  During World War II, Virginia worked at the Bendix Corporation in Sidney and later joined the staff at the Chenango County National Bank &amp; Trust Company on North Broad Street which later became the Chase Lincoln First Bank.  She remained there for seventeen years.  She retired in 1983 from Procter &amp; Gamble where she was an accounts receivable clerk.</p>
<p>She was a member of the First Baptist Church.</p>
<p>Virginia is survived by her half-sister, Eileen Youngs, of Oxford; her niece, Jacqueline Kemp, of Florida and her very good friend, Rose Priest and her husband Roy, of Norwich.  She was predeceased by two foster sisters, Leona Finnegan and Vivian Ross.</p>
<p>Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Wilson Funeral Home.  Rev. James Horton, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.  Burial will take place in the spring in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene.</p>
<p>Contributions in memory of Virginia may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street, Norwich, NY  13815.</p>
