Barbara J. (Brown) Scanlon, 82, passed away in the Lord peacefully after a courageous fight with cancer on Friday, June 18, 2010, at Angels Grace Hospice in Wisconsin.
She was born December 19, 1927, in Norwich, NY, to Chester and Autumn (Law) Brown. On June 20, 1953, she married her hometown sweetheart Gerard T. Scanlon. Following their marriage, they both worked in the medical field, Barbara as an RN and Gerard as a Radiologist, later moving to WI in 1968. Barbara was the loving mother of Kelly (Gladys El-Chaar) Winters and Timothy (Sharon) Scanlon. She was also the beloved grandmother of Cliff, Steve, Lindsay and Luke. She is also survived by her brother Harold (Helen) Brown and nephew Padraic (Anita) Brown. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services were held in Brookfield, WI. A graveside service for Barbara will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Norwich, NY, on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Barbara and I were close friends and neighbors growing up. We spent lots of time on her front porch playing pretend people, speccifically Amelia Earheart. My warm condolences are sent to the family, that I knew by letters. My birthday was My 19 and hers Decembeer 19. We always exchanged firghday cards and letters. I’m sorry she suffered so.. I’d be there if I could but I live in Louisville CO and am recovering from hip replecement.
