Florence A. Warner, 86, of South New Berlin, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2010, in the Residential Health Care Facility of Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born April 19, 1923, in Whitney Point, Florence was the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Niles) Walls. She graduated in 1941 from Whitney Point High School. On April 24, 1942, in Triangle, NY, Florence married Paul J. Warner who died on May 2, 1985. Following her marriage, Florence stayed at home and began raising her family of five children. Later she worked at Amphenol in Sidney for over forty years retiring in 1988.
Florence was a fifty year member of the Auxiliary of the South New Berlin Fire Department. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and cooking as well as helping care for the older residents in the area. She attended the South New Berlin First Baptist Church.
Florence is survived by her children and their spouses, Sharon Meyers and Scott Higbie and Paul J. and Maureen Warner Jr., all of Virginia Beach, VA, Bunny Bryden of Bainbridge, Dale F. and Mary Warner of Oxford and Alan D. and Cheryl Warner of Norwich; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Florence was predeceased by four brothers, Louis, John, Clarence, and Clayton Monk and by four sisters, Elfie, Elizabeth, Margaret, and Ruth Monk.
Graveside services for Florence will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 1, 2010, in Riverside Cemetery in South New Berlin. Rev. Romeyn Kipp, pastor of the Holmesville Baptist Church, will officiate. There will be no calling hours.
Florence’s family wishes to thank all of the medical staff at the Residential Health Care Facility for their wonderful and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Florence may be made to the South New Berlin Fire Department or to the Residential Health Care Facility of Chenango Memorial Hospital.
